Mick Arriëns
My name is Mick Arriëns, osteopath D.O.-MRO, and I have been active in healthcare since 2018. The desire to help people with physical complaints initially led me to bioresonance and phytotherapy. There, I learned to understand how bodily processes work together and how disruptions can lead to a wide variety of complaints. Still, I missed the direct, hands-on contact, something I ultimately found in osteopathy. I completed the training to become an osteopath and have since worked in this profession with great dedication.
During a consultation, I make connections between the anatomy, physiology, neurology, and embryology of the body. The body functions as a chain in which systems continuously influence one another. Recognizing and understanding this interconnectedness is what the practice is all about.
Who do I have in front of me? Why is this person experiencing complaints? What is needed for recovery? Or what is standing in the way of recovery? These questions form the foundation of my approach.
With attention and an eye for the whole, I strive to offer solutions for complex complaints that hinder your daily life, so that you can move effortlessly and confidently again.
Outside the practice, I enjoy being active. I have a passion for water sports and practice martial arts and functional fitness. I live in Haarlem with my girlfriend and dog.
Research
To obtain my diploma in osteopathy (D.O.), I conducted research in collaboration with Félicie Crijns on detecting and treating adhesions after a caesarean section. We focused, among other things, on aftercare and investigated the relationship between these adhesions and complaints such as back, abdominal, and pelvic pain.
Registered with the Dutch Register of Osteopathy (NRO)

The treatment
The consultation starts with an interview and a physical examination. It looks at the region of the complaint, but also how this region is related to the rest of the body. From the findings of the study, a treatment plan follows.
After two to three sessions, it will become clear whether the therapy has the desired effect. In case of acute symptoms, three to five treatments are usually sufficient. In the case of persistent or chronic complaints, more treatments will be necessary.
About the practice
The practice is located in the Houtvaartkwartier in Haarlem, just outside the center. Easily accessible by car, bike or public transport. The space is located on the ground floor and is easily accessible.
